GENERAL QUESTIONS

What are the advantages of having bott Smartvan van racking?
Our van racking solutions saves you time and money, helping you to maintain a van so organised that you’ll never have to start a sentence with “Where did I put my..” again. Our brackets attach to the existing fixing points within your vehicle, meaning it can be easily be fitted, or removed, without damaging your van. With a clever range of accessories that can be customised and adjusted within the frames, our van racking solutions can evolve with you, as your requirements change over time.
What makes your racking so safe?
Cargo items that are not secured safely can pose as safety hazards, especially in the events of sudden braking or collisions. Storing tools and items in a van racking system that is specifically configured for them, not only provides improved load security, but also creates a convenient space for organisation - minimising the risk of minor injuries from unnecessary rummaging in the load area of a poorly organised van. bott Smartvan van racking undergoes rigorous crash testing, under EU ECE / R17 standards and regulations, meaning you can feel safer no matter the circumstances.
Do you offer racking for my van?
Whether it be small, medium or large, we offer van racking for most popular vans available. You can check if we have a solution for your van by visiting our vehicles page. If your van is not listed, please get in touch with the bott Smartvan team, who will be happy to help. Note: Fixing points in your van vary depending on the manufacture date, wheelbase and height of your vehicle, be sure to double/ triple check that your vans spec matches with what we have online, as our fixing brackets are designed specifically to these variables.
How does the “no drill solution” work?
Every van manufacturer incorporates fixing points within the floor, walls and ceiling of the load space of the van. bott Smartvan racking has been designed so that the van-specific fixing brackets fit directly to these points, eliminating any need to drill into the walls of the van.
Do you supply van floors and linings?
We offer a hard-wearing 12mm water-resistant ply floor - fully profiled to your van and complete with a durable, non-slip, grey coating. We don’t currently offer side-linings on our online store, but our main site, Bott Ltd, offers fitting centres who can provide side-lining solutions. To find out more, please click here and get in contact with us.
Do you have a show van/ rep so I can see the product?
Unfortunately we do not have any representatives at present, as we offer this solution as an online purchase only. The good news is our show van can often be found out and about, on the road and attending events up and down the country! You can view a list of our upcoming events here. Or, if you fancy meeting the team and checking out some racking in person, you are welcome to visit us at our manufacturing plant in Bude, Cornwall. Give us a call or email to set up an appointment. Can I order a module that isn't on your website?
To enable us to provide customers with the quickest service possible all our modules are sold as a standard product – an “off the shelf solution”! Due to this, we can only supply the standard modules we have available on our website. The internal shelving and storage options in most modules can be swapped around to create unique configurations for yourself, however. Meaning you can customise your racking to suit your individual needs and requirements! Visit our accessory store for more parts that can fit into your racking.
Once I've fitted the system, is there anything else I need?
Once your chosen racking has been installed, you will have everything you need to get started; enabling you to be more efficient and organised from the get-go. The best part is, as our system is modular you can build and change your solution over time to help spread the cost! You may find that as your tools, or work style, changes over time, you’ll want to add or swap parts for different functionalities. To do so, simply visit our accessory shop, select what’s right for you and you’ll be able to switch it up in no time!

TECHNICAL QUESTIONS

How much does a racking system weigh?
We understand the load capacities of each van is an important consideration when looking for a suitable van racking system. This is why all of our bott modulo3 systems are made from lightweight, pressed steel, meaning that they are significantly lighter than most ply-wood racking solutions. You can review the weight of every module within the technical information tab when selecting the racking solution best for your needs.
What are the dimensions of the power tool case holders?
The power tool case holders are 510mm wide x 290mm deep internally. There is no set height measurement, as the gap between accessories can be adjusted to suit the specific user’s needs.
What are the dimensions of the anti-slip load mats?
Our anti-slip load mats measure in at 620mm x 820mm.
Can I have the raised floor system on its own?
Our raised floors fix to, and are supported by, the racking modules on either side, closest to the rear of the loading bay. It is therefore not possible to fit our raised floors without having both of the mentioned modules fixed in place.
Do I need the bott Smartvan floor?
As our system is designed to be compatible with manufacturer fitted floors, as well as with our own flooring options, you don’t have to have a bott Smartvan floor for your racking system to be compatible. However,(if you fancy a suave new interior to match your new racking) you will need to remove any pre-existing flooring.
How much loading space will I have clear once the van racking is in place?

If you have a van racking module fitted to either side of the rear doors, then the load space in-between varies depending upon the size of the van. Our estimates for example are:

  • Micro vans – e.g. Ford Courier - 866mm
  • Small vans - e.g. Ford Connect & VW Caddy - 978mm*
  • Medium vans - e.g. Ford Custom & VW Transporter - 1090mm Large vans - e.g. Ford Transit & VW Crafter - 1202mm

*Note: 2004 - 2020 VW Caddy has 866mm

How high is the deck kit / raised floor system?
The height of the deck kit is 375mm but it can be fitted at lower heights in 25mm increments. The lowest fixing point will leave 45mm usable underfloor height and the highest fixing point will leave 320mm usable underfloor height. The kit comes with a 320mm high central partition which will only work if the deck is fitted at the recommended 375mm height. Note: We always recommend fitting the central partition to achieve the maximum UDL weight load.

INSTALLING YOUR RACKING

Can I fit van racking if my van is ply lined?
In short…yes! Our racking is designed to allow room for ply lining on the side walls of your van. As ply lining is generally fitted post-manufacture, there are instances where you may need to trim it slightly so as to gain access to the existing van fixing points where the brackets are secured. If in doubt or unsure, feel free to get in contact with our super helpful team who’ll be more than happy to help.
Do I need any specific tools to install my racking?

We recommend you prepare the following tools for fitting a full installation, though you may not require all of these depending on the product you’re installing.

  • ⅜” Socket Set
  • Screwdriver Set
  • Drill Driver
  • Torque Wrench
  • Allen Keys
  • Tape Measure
Do you offer a fitting service?
bott Smartvan is an online only, self-fit product - designed to bolt into the existing fixing points within your van. Full step by step fitting instructions will be provided with your kit. Our main site, Bott Ltd, has various fitting centres around the UK that can offer a range of professionally installed van racking options, as well as other services such as vehicle graphics, electronics and lighting.
