Mission Unstoppable: bott Smartvan’s Mount Snowdon Charity Hike

On Sunday 15th January we teamed up with our friends from City Plumbing, Fix Radio, Viper Gas, CT1, Airflow, Google, and many more to attempt the #missionunstoppable! The mission in question sent us hiking up Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England.

Supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust

It was all in aid of an incredible cause: the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Did you know every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words "you have cancer". Cancer doesn't just devastate their health. It threatens to take away everything they care about - their identity, their independence and their dreams.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to meeting the needs of teenagers and young people, as well as funding specialist nurses and hospital units within the NHS to provide the very best clinical care.

They do everything they can to make sure cancer doesn't stop young people living their lives, during treatment and beyond.

All donations to this Mission Unstoppable Challenge will help us to support young people facing cancer and make sure they aren’t alone.

Together we are better and together we are #Unstoppable.

Our journey up Mount Snowdon

We started bright and early on Sunday morning, heading straight for the main path that winds up the mountain. The weather was rough right from the off -  but that didn't stop us smiling!

The first part of the climb was pretty wet and windy - which is typical for Snowdon in January. There was also very little visibility, which meant we needed to stick together.

This part of the hike was quite easy considering the pouring rain. The flatter terrain meant for making up good ground towards the summit!

With what we could see of the views we were blown away. Under the low-lying clouds, the hillsides still looked incredible. We took lots of pictures to remember the breathtaking scenery.

We worked well as a team, making sure to keep each other motivated through the tough conditions. But little did we know what was right around the corner...

We were all greeted with nothing but pure white. Wow. We were all shocked by how quickly the lush green surroundings transformed into a complete blank canvas of snow.

The snow deepened as we trudged along the paths, which was a good sign as it meant we were getting closer and closer to the summit.

This is the point at which the weather really started to show its true colours. The temperature plummeted and the wind picked up. But we didn't have too much further to travel! The summit was now in sight, even if we could only see a few meters in front of our eyes!

The final few ice covered steps towards the trig point felt amazing - we smashed it!

With the wind chill taking the temperature down to a biting minus 14 degrees, we realised this was the coldest some of us had ever been. But it was well worth it!

We have managed, at this point, to raise over the incredible target of £10k!
